Ludwighench Posted November 12 Sit down and let me tell you the tale of one really strange, hidden door in the huge wide-open world RPG Elden Ring Runes. You might have to hit the door 50 times or more for it to open, they say. There's an increase in the number of these doors, but this all could be a strange bug that could be fixed in the near future. As fans continue to try to determine what precisely, we're dealing with here, footage of the phenomenon caught the attention of thousands of players , and gave them yet another wild thing to consider while playing FromSoftware's mystery-filled adventure. On the morning of March 18, Reddit user teristam uploaded a video on the Elden Ring subreddit showcasing something crazy. In the video, they walked up to a wall that is not very descriptive at Volcano Manor, which is an apparent location for late-games, and begin smashing it with a sword. After 50 hits, the wall blinks out of existence, and opens up an undiscovered path was not seen by anyone before. The video went viral on Reddit in the sense that it appeared to suggest some bizarre game which a common person wouldn't be able to solve without prompting , such as data mining. If this sounds like a bizarre idea, well, the game is full of esoteric puzzles and unexplained mechanics that are not understood by the general public. FromSoftware develops worlds of games focused on rewarding and trolling players to explore and experiment. The idea of intentionality didn't seem out of the realm of the possibility. And so, other gamers quickly began checking and making sure that the fake wall was real and was actually in the game. The hidden doorway only gained more fame and more attention when popular Dark Souls YouTuber Iron Pineapple posted the Reddit clip on Twitter. However the majority of people believed this was just another trollish secret hidden in a game filled with similar mysteries, there appears to be more to this story. According to another Reddit user who reacted to the original subreddit post the wall is actually an identical and fake wall located near the viral doorway that was featured in the original video. They included a picture of it , along with some spoiler-y details about its location and its location, which you can read here. It appears this fake wall can be taken down by the same method, with a bunch of strikes from a weapon of your choice. It's not nearly as many hits, contingent on the statistics you've gathered, players claim. For clarity: The concept of hidden, fake walls isn't what got buy Elden Ring Runes players excited. Weird walls that hide secrets are a well-known aspect of Elden Ring. These "illusory walls" are already fairly thoroughly documented and understood. What makes it (and another similar) hidden wall so strange is the fact that it doesn't operate similar to the other illusory rooms in the game, lacking the same sound signal disappearing, returning after you rest at a Site of Grace, and taking dozens and dozens of hits to be able to open. Though initially, the footage led to the conclusion that the door could have been a deliberate design but some players and experts have now suggested that this wall may be an issue or a mistake made on the table by the developers.
